Effective Thursday, May 14, the city of Salem will be making mulch from the residue of the recent ice storm available to area residents, according to Salem Mayor Gary Clayton. All brush and limbs collected during the city's cleanup have been mulched and will be available at the city's composting operation located on Veterans Way, off Highway 395 North. The site is located just North of the of the Tri-County Shirt Company plant and just West of the Salem VFW.
The mulch is being made available to the public at no cost, Clayton said, and a loader and operator will be available to load your truck or trailer. The loader and operator will be avaliable between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. each week day beginning Thursday, May 14.
"If you have need for mulch for gardening or landscaping projects, please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity," Clayton said.
