Izard County deputies were kept busy May 9 as family members of Kayla Lenee Sartin received numerous calls from a cell phone stating that Sartin's life was in danger and that she would never be seen again. The cell phone thought to be that of Kelly McClellan of Dolph led deputies to various areas of the Dolph community and to an address in Baxter County.
Early that night, deputies and Sheriff Lawrence entered a mobile home in the Dolph area after a call thought to be from that residence indicated that Sartin would be shot. After announcing themselves and no response from inside, the door was kicked in and residence was entered. No one was at the residence at the time but evidence inside the mobile home indicated someone had been there only minutes before.
Early Sunday morning, the McClellan and Sartin were located at a café in Calico Rock where they were arrested on public intoxication charges -- drugs and placed in the Izard County Detention Facility on an investigative hold with additional charges pending. When booked, both tested positive for methamphetamine. McClellan, 32, and Sartin of Calico Rock, 18.
In an unrelated matter, the deputies responded May 9 to a residence on state highway 5 north of Calico Rock to the scene of a domestic violence compliant involving a son and mother. According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Charley Roy Parker, 35, was arrested on the charge of domestic violence. According to the report, Parker became upset when his 69-year-old mother told Parker to get someone to help him back his truck, so that he would not hit her vehicle. This, according to the report, enraged Parker and he twisted his mother's arm up behind her back and started to hit her in the back and on the head. The victim required medical attention. Parker of Calico Rock remains in the Izard County Detention Facility pending an appearance in court.
May 8, deputies and Sheriff Lawrence responded to a call in Mount Pleasant regarding a drunk male with a gun threatening to do harm to others. John Edward Burchett II, 31, of Mount Pleasant was arrested at a residence on Reeves Street and was transported to the Izard County Detention Facility. A rifle was taken from the scene and placed into evidence. Charges are pending against Burchett.
Another Mount Pleasant man was arrested May 6 on a probation violation and is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility, Eric Chad Fuller, 35, is being held on a hold from the Arkansas Department of Correction.
On the morning of May 4, deputies and Sheriff Lawrence arrested Bradley Travis Edmonton on numerous charges to include possession of a controlled substance, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, operating a vehicle without license plates and having no driver's license. Edmonton was also arrested for failure to comply with a previous court order and is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility. Edmonton's mother, Melissa Jean Cox of Calico Rock was also charged in connection with this incidence for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Cox posted bond the following day in the amount of $500 and was released.
Larry Joe Langston, 58, of Melbourne was arrested May 4 on the charge of harassing communications. Langston is accused of calling the sheriff's department and harassing the dispatcher. Langston posted bond in the amount of $1,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility. Sheriff Lawrence said that it appeared that alcohol was a contributing factor to Langston's conduct.
In another alcohol related matter, Danny Wayne Roper, 53, of Onia was arrested early Friday morning on charges to include driving while intoxicated-fourth offense, endangering the welfare of a minor second degree, driving with a suspended license and driving left of center. Sheriff Lawrence said that the fourth offense, driving while intoxicated, is a felony and could result in prison time. Roper posted bond the following day in the amount of $4,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
A Mountain View man, Anthony Eugene Lawrence, 41, was arrested early Sunday morning on the charge of driving while intoxicated. Lawrence remains in the Izard County Detention Facility.
David Bruce Roush, 24, of Calico Rock was transported May 5 from Hayes, Kan., to appear in court to answered charges relating to his theft of property arrest. Roush is accused of stealing money from a convenience store in Calico Rock while he was employed there. Sheriff Lawrence said the act was caught on video and that Roush left the state shortly thereafter.
Andrea Dawn Neevel, 30, of Melbourne was arrested May 7 on the charge of failing to comply with a court order. Neevel appeared in court and pled guilty to her original traffic charge and was given a future court date relating to her failure to comply. Neevel also had warrants in Independence County.
Gearl Dale Adams, 24, of Mountain Home was arrested May 5 on a warrant for failure to appear in Izard County District Court. Adams remains in the Izard Detention Facility.
Nacona Amber Kinkead, 26, of Calico Rock was arrested May 7 on a contempt of court warrant relating to a violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law. Kinkead posted bond the following day in the amount of $695 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Leif Scott Cantrell, 26, of Calico Rock was arrested May 9 on a warrant of criminal contempt of court/failure to comply. Cantrell remains in the Izard County Detention Facility until court date.
