The sixty ninth annual meeting of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative has been set for Thursday, June 4 at the Salem Civic Center just off Highway 62 West in Salem.
Preliminary plans for the meeting will follow previous years, with the exception of the first annual Energy Efficiency Expo in the Miller-Hickinbotham Building. The cooperative had invited area businesses to display the latest in energy efficiency. The expo is due in part to the nex tax credits available for the purchase and installation of energy efficient HVAC systems, windows, insulation and such. During the Expo, members are encouraged to register for a home energy audit, complete with a blower door test and sealing of leaks.
Annual reports will be mailed out to each member the end of May. Included with the annual report will be a registration card unique to each member. The cooperative asks that each member bring this registration card with them to the annual meeting in order to facilitate registration quickly.
Health screenings will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Member registration is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Energy Efficiency Expo is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A free barbecue dinner will be served to members from 4:15 to 7 p.m., with entertainment by T. Graham Brown and Mel McDaniel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Registered members will be eligible to win a 2001 Chevy Silverado 4x4 retired service truck.
The business session will be held at 7 p.m. and will include the election of three members to serve three-year terms on the board of directors. A brief summary of cooperative operations, as well as other reports, will also be presented.
