Nathan Circle of Hardy was selected once again to play in the prestigious Arkansas State Golf Association's 2009 Governor's Cup.
This annual event was held at Chenal Country Club's Bear Den Course in Little Rock on May 14-16.
The competition pits the best amateur golfers in the state of Arkansas against the best the state of Mississippi has to offer.
The event opened with a noon practice round on Thursday with all the players from both states getting ready for the main event.
A players dinner at the Arkansas Governors Mansion followed.
On May 15, play consisted of four-ball matches in the morning.
The Arkansas team won 6 to 2½.
In the afternoon matches, Arkansas won 5-4, putting team Arkansas up 11½ to 6½ after the fist day.
The final day consisted of individual single matches and Arkansas won 13 of the 18 matches for a final score of 23 to 13, giving team Arkansas the Governor's Cup for the third consecutive year.
In addition to Circle, team Arkansas consisted of Mark Bartlett from Searcy, Kirk Brown of Mountain Home, Eddie Craven from Maumelle, Jay Fox, Tracy Harris and Chris Jenkins, all from Little Rock, Ron Mangold from Pocahontas, Wes McNulty of Pine Bluff and Neal Westbrook from Russellville.
They are the top 10 amateur players in the state.
