Members of Main Street Hardy, Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce and Kathy Drew with the Ozark Gateway Region organization from Batesville, met Wednesday for a luncheon meeting at Words and Afterwords in Hardy to finalize plans for the upcoming Welcome to Arkansas Program.

This program, which will be held June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Old Hardy Gym, is targeted at area businesses and will focus on messages that will enhance the tourism experience in the Spring River area as well as providing ways for area businesses to encourage tourists to not only spend more time and money in the region, but also offer hospitality recommendations that will keep the tourists returning and perhaps bringing their family and friends to the area.

Business owners from Sharp County, as well as all surrounding counties that benefit from tourism in the area are encouraged to attend this free program. There will be refreshments provided by the area banks and Negron's Bakery.

Kim Wilson, president of Main Street Hardy said, "This is an opportunity to boost tax revenues through increased visitor activity, expand civic pride and give our guests another reason to come back."
