Mylet Trotter's sixth grade class at Salem Elementary School had many projects throughout the year, but one of the students' favorites was being able to author their own book. Each child selected a subject and wrote and illustrated the story. Each book was then hard bound with each student creating a cover for their book. Back row, left to right, are: Anthony Parker and Isaac Phillips; Seated are: Caitlin Jarrell, Libbie Watkins, Audrey Cox Lorenzo, Offutt and Ryne Long. The class also created a book of poetry which they sold for $2.50, raising $300 for their class. The money was used to purchase sixth grade T-shirts, create Mother's Day presents, hold a Mexican feast, purchase a tennis net and end the year with a pizza party. Photo by Erma Harris
