Deadly accident

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Emergency personnel work to free Carol Sue Norton, 74, of Williford from the wreckage of her 1996 Nissan Sentra June 8. A passenger in the vehicle, Donald Norton, 76, of Williford, died at the scene. According to the Arkansas State Police, the accident occurred when Norton's vehicle failed to negotiate a right curve on U.S. 62 between Viola and Gepp. The vehicle traveled across two westbound lanes of traffic and exited the north side of the highway, where it traveled down an embankment and struck a tree. Carol Norton was taken by Air Evac to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Trooper Coty Williams was the investigating officer. Photos by Erma Harris and Nicki de Soto

This sounds like another accident on the passing lane that is way too curved to be safe. How many people have to die here before the highway department does something?
