With the school year over, many area school children are looking for activities to do this summer.
The Grizzly Volleyball program at Missouri State University-West Plains has one fun option to consider -- Grizzly Volleyball Camps.
The camps will be conducted by Grizzly Head Coach Paula Wiedemann and assistant coach Courtney Hendrickson, with assistance from members of the Grizzly Volleyball team.
The excitement begins July 6 with the Setter and Attacker Camp for youths entering grades seven through 12.
This day-long camp, set for 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is designed for beginners to advanced players to help develop sound fundamentals and skills, and to improve their ability to advance as a player. A lunch break will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $75 per camper with lunch included and $70 without lunch.
On July 7, seventh through 12th graders can participate in the Passing, Defense, Serving and Blocking Camp.

A lunch break will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost of the camp is $75 per camper with lunch included and $70 without lunch.
July 13-14 has been set aside for the Elementary Day Camp for youngsters entering grades three through six. Volleyball fundamentals and fun will be stressed at this event, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. A lunch break will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per camper with lunch included and $70 without lunch.
A special Skills Camp will be held July 15-17 for players entering grades seventh through 12th. This camp for beginners to advanced players, will focus on the improvement of basic skill development by covering all the fundamentals of the game plus developing technique through progression drills and individual and group work. Campers can choose to commute to this camp or stay on the Missouri State-West Plains campus' Grizzly House residence hall. Those who choose to say in the residence hall should register early as housing is limited. Cost of the camp is $175 for commuters and $225 for those choosing to stay in the Grizzly House. All meals will be provided for those staying in the residence hall.
The Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Team Camp is set for July 8-11 and will help teams improve through multiple practice sessions and competition.
Each team will have a camp coach to help with practice sessions, organizers said. Cost is $175 per player for teams that commute and $235 per player for teams that choose to stay at the Grizzly House residence hall. All meals will be provided to those who stay in the residence hall, with the exception of lunch on day four.
Teams that just want to participate in the competition portion of the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Team Camp can choose to attend the final two days only. Separate divisions will be held for freshmen, varsity and junior varsity and each team will be provided a minimum of six full matches. Awards for first and second place will be handed out in each division. Cost is $275 per team.
All camps will be held at the West Plains Civic Center, and all camp participants, with the exception of those participating in the team competitions only, will receive a free camp T-shirt.
