After starting the season with 12 wins and no losses, the Spring River Senior Softballers traveled to Jonesboro on June 11. They faced a much-improved squad in Jonesboro. This game was close from start to finish, with both offenses sputtering. When it was over it was Jonesboro won 9-8.
In game two against the Trumann Gang, Spring River came out swinging the bats with much more authority. They jumped ahead early and it stayed that way to the end, with Spring River winning 7-4.
In both games Pat LaFaye played his usual great defense, Danny Muis had some great plays at third base and "Scrappy" Mangrum had a single. The new kid on the block, Scott Sanderfur, made some great catches in short right, and as usual, the Rat Patrol in the outfield, Dave Keylor, Rick Combs, Joe Bonds and Larry Thompson, did a great job.
Herb Hess has pitched every game this year.
