In the Jonesboro game, Spring River, still upset from last week's loss to Jonesboro, came out swinging the bats and playing good defense early and took control of the game for a 17-4 win.
In the second game, Trumann came out hot and took an early lead. Spring River took a couple of innings to get going, but the bats came alive to put points on the scoreboard and several defensive gems stopped Trumann rallies. Spring River went on to a 21-10 win.
On offense the team hit well. Tony Clementi hit a homer and Dan Hedrington followed with another. "Scrappy" surprised the outfielders when he smashed a hit past them. Dave Keylor, Rick Comer and Pat LaFaye all had clutch hits.
On defense, "Scoop" LaFaye made some rally-killing plays. Dave Keylor made a catch worthy of an ESPN highlight. Coach Gary Bacon was pleased with the team's performance. "Smoky" Herb Hess pitched both games.
