July 4th events announced

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Independence Day is always the best time of the year, although most certainly the hottest, to share fun times with family and friends.

The 2009 Fourth of July celebrations in the Sharp County area begin on Friday, July 3 with entertainment in the Cave City Park. There will be two bands playing July 3, beginning at 7 p.m. with concessions available.

The fireworks display, sponsored by Cave City First Baptist Church, will begin at dark in the park, so be sure to bring lawn chairs to enjoy this wonderful display.

Cherokee Village will begin kicking off the holiday July 3 with a street dance on the upper level of town square. Cherokee Village Fire Department will begin the Fourth of July festivities early Saturday with a pancake and all the trimmings breakfast. The meal will be served from 6:30 a.m. to noon at Baseheart Station in Cherokee Village.

The evening's favorite events will be held at Lake Thunderbird beginning at 7 p.m. The boat parade will begin at 7 p.m. followed by one of the largest fireworks displays in the county over beautiful Lake Thunderbird at dark. The display is sponsored by the Cherokee Village Business Association.

Regardless of where one plans to spend the holiday, Sharp County offers many options for weekend entertainment.
