A one vehicle accident June 27 landed a Viola man in the Fulton County Jail.
Carl Wright, 34, of Viola was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan westbound on Highway 62 about 4 miles west of Salem when he failed to negotiate a curve, over-corrected and drove across the highway into the eastbound lane.
The car travelled along the shoulder of the highway for about 126 feet before striking a power pole and rolling over its roof and landing on a fence.
Wright was transported by ambulance to Fulton County Hospital where he was treated and released into custody.
He is charged with DWI (drugs), driving left of center, implied consent, no seatbelt and careless driving. The investigating Trooper was Corporal Ronnie D. Stewart. Assisting agencies were the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, Viola First Responders and Salem First Responders.
