Mitchell ready for World Championship show

American Quarter Horse exhibitor Stacie Mitchell of Thayer will be competing in the 2009 Ford American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship show in Oklahoma City.

This premier event is scheduled to run from July 31 through Aug. 8.

Mitchell will be among nearly 2,000 youth, ages 18-and-under, from the  United States, Canada and other countries participating in the show.

She will compete with the American Quarter Horse RR make Your Move, an 8-year-old sorrel gelding, in  Hunt Seat Equitation, Aged Gelding at Halter and is an alternate in Hunter Under Saddle.

The Ford AQHYA World Championship Show is an invitational event that showcases top American Quarter Horse youth exhibitors.

As always, the competition promises to be intense and exciting.

Youth will compete for 33 world championship titles as well as prizes from American Quarter  Horse Association sponsors.

Exhibitors must have earned a predetermined number of points at American Quarter Horse Association-approved shows between May 1, 2008, and April 30, 2009.

They may also be one of four entries in each event selected to represent each affiliate American Quarter Horse Youth Association.

The 2009 Ford AQHYA World Championship Show is sponsored by Bayer, B&W Hitches, Featherlite, Ford, John Deere, Justin Boots, Markel Insurance, Montana Silversmiths, Nutrena, Professional's Choice, SmartPak, WeatherBeeta and Wrangler.

Additional sponsors include Cripple Creek Outerwear, Kiser Arena Specialists, The American Quarter Horse Journal and Metro Golf Cars.

Additional events taking place at the Ford Youth World include award presentations for year-end high-point winners and he AQHYA Speech, Horse Judging and Horse Bowl contests.

The American Quarter Horse Journal will provide online coverage of the Ford Youth World Show.

Along with competition coverage, special feature stories, interviews and photos of world champions will also be included.

Mitchell is the15-year-old daughter of Johnny Mitchell and is a sophomore at Thayer High School.
