Teens injured in 4-wheeler accident

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Two 16-year-old girls were injured in a four-wheeler accident July 10 near Wirth.

According to Sharp County Sheriff Dale Weaver, a call came into central dispatch about the accident at 245 Banks Road at 10:47 p.m.

Sharp County Deputies Jeff Adam and Jesse Wells responded to the scene, as did Spring River Ambulance Service.

Paramedics on scene called for Air-Evac to transport both girls to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

Injured were Annie Marie Patterson, 16, of Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Autumn Baker, 16, of Marion, Ark. Weaver said the girls were in the area visiting relatives.

According to Weaver, the accident occurred when the four-wheeler hit loose gravel and turned over.

Weaver spoke with officials at St. John's Hospital Monday morning and was told that both girls are out of intensive care and are listed in fair condition.
