Izard County Sheriff's Report

John Wayne Morgan, 26, of Calico Rock was returned Friday to the Izard County Detention Facility from a prison in northern Minnesota to answer charges this week in Izard County Circuit Court. Morgan is accused of commercial breaking and entering along with theft of property involving three businesses in Calico Rock last year. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Morgan will be returned to Minnesota to finish serving his sentence in that state, and if convicted in Izard County, will be returned to Arkansas to serve any imposed prison time.

In other sheriff's department activities, Gary Leroy DeMay, 59, of Oxford was arrested July 9 on drug charges to include manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. DeMay posted bond in the amount of $2,500 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

In another drug related arrest, Raymond Leon Hounihan, 35, of Melbourne was charged July 7 with possession of a controlled substance. Hounihan made provisions for bond in the amount of $1,230 and was released from jail.

Billy Joe Powell, 28, of Calico Rock was arrested July 10 on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Powell was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day after posting a $615 bond.

Paul Alexander Rodgers, 47, of Melbourne was arrested July 9 at a Melbourne business on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest. Rodgers posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,310 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

A Calico Rock couple was arrested on public intoxication. Charges followed after an incident in Calico Rock. Charged were Alan D. Stamper, 34, and Gretchen Stamper, 34. Both posted bond the following day in the amount of $205 and were released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

William Bo Wilson, 41, of Bay, was arrested July 10 on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving left of center. Wilson was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day.

Larry Joe Langston, 58, of Melbourne was arrested July 9 on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving left of center. Langston was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day after posting bond in the amount of $1,185

Johnny Eugene Owens, 47, of Calico Rock was arrested July 10 on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving left of center. Owns posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,310 and was released.

John F. Woodall, 39, of Melbourne was arrested July 11 on disorderly conduct charges following an incident involving a cell phone. Woodall posted bond in the amount of $205 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Michael Delynn Travis, 54, of Melbourne was arrested July 9 on the charge of public intoxication. At the time of Travis' arrest, it was determined that an active warrant and commitment order had been filed. Travis is currently serving a 256 day commitment in the Izard County Detention Facility.

Chasity Dawn Fader, 30, of Melbourne was arrested July 8 on a probation/parole violation and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Amanda Kay Branscum, 23, of Mountain View was arrested July 12 on the charge of public intoxication. Branscum remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $205 bond.

Joseph Lynn Lyons, 24, of Cave City was arrested July 12 on charges of driving on a suspended/revoked license and operating a vehicle without insurance. Lyons remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $835 bond.

Additional items taken in early June from the Patrick Thompson home north of Calico Rock have been recovered. Jewelry items taken from the home have been located at a pawn shop in the Little Rock area and a ring has been recovered from an Izard County resident.

Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that as many as three people may be directly involved in the theft and additional people involved in disposing of the items. Sheriff Lawrence said that he expects one or more arrests to be made in the very near future as the department continues this investigation.

A male juvenile has been arrested in connection with the theft of a purse and money from a parked vehicle in Calico Rock. Approximately $1,200 was taken from a vehicle parked at the food bank in that town.

Additional charges have been filed against Charles W. Crider, 39, of Izard County. Crider, who had active warrants for contempt of court and unpaid child support, ran from authorities last week during a traffic stop. As a result, Crider now faces additional charges of fleeing and driving on a suspended license. Sheriff Lawrence is asking anyone having information as to Crider's whereabouts to contact the Izard County Sheriff's Department.
