Hospital looking for some helping hands

Thursday, July 16, 2009

The Fulton County Hospital is looking for a few good volunteers to come and get involved.

"Being a volunteer is very rewarding, said Volunteer Coordinator Pam Johnson.

Johnson says volunteers are needed to assist with phone calls, visit with patients, greet hospital visitors, do some transportation and help file medical records.

Current volunteer Elizabeth Redfearn gets great satisfaction out of her work at the hospital. "You get to give back to the community," Redfearn said. "You feel good because you're giving of yourself, being a hand extended, not just to the employees but also to the patients."

The volunteers recently held a fundraiser and raised approximately $600 to purchase a new flat screen television for the hospital's waiting area.

The volunteers are currently offering for raffle a handmade quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased at the front desk of the hospital. The raffle ends Aug. 23.

To get involved and become a volunteer at the hospital, contact Pam Johnson at 870-895-6063.
