Man loses arm in farming accident

Thursday, July 23, 2009

The 2009 Oregon County farm family's Dale Jedlicka, 38, of Koshkonong, lost his right arm in a hay baler July 10.

Because of weather conditions Air Evac could not fly Jedlicka from Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains to Cabool. However, an air emergency transport was able to get Jedlicka from Cabool to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Phillip Jett, a family member, said Jedlicka was able to come back home July 15 and start physical therapy the next day. Jett said Jedlicka has a good attitude towards what has happened to him and the family seems to be in high spirits that Jedlicka will recover well from his injury.

Jedlicka, his wife, Tonya, and children, Caitlin and Cody were named the 2009 Oregon County farm family in May.

That's absolutely awful. Dale, you're a strong man and an awesome inspiration for farmers (and everyone else) in this whole area. Hope you're back, up and going, real soon.
