The field was so muddy and wet in Jonesboro that the Trumann and Jonesboro seniors softballers came to Ash Flat to play ball on July 23.
In game one, Spring River got off to a great start on offense, played good defense and then coasted to a 22-4 win.
Game two with the Trumann gang was another nail biter. Trumann got off to a 10-3 lead, but once again the pesky Spring River team fought back.
When it was over, the scoreboard read Trumann 20, Spring River 16.
It was a hard one for Spring River to lose. After falling behind by seven runs, Spring River had a 14-10 lead going into the last inning, but Trumann tied it up in the seventh.
In the eighth inning, they had a big rally to win the game.
On offense, Dave Keylor got several hits, including a homer. Herb Hess had a good day at the plate getting several hits. Scrappy, Bill Stuart, Gary Bacon and Pat LaFaye collected several hits. Summing it up, in the Jonesboro game Spring River put on an offensive show and played a good defense.
