Beverly's hillside chihuahuas

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Echo, a deer Chihuahua, is the proud mother of seven very healthy puppies at Beverly Breckenridge's kennel just outside Ash Flat. The unusually large litter of puppies were born July 15.
Beverly Breckenridge and daughter Bernedette were shocked to see the unusually large litter of seven puppies Beverly's Chihuahua Echo delivered July 15.

Breckenridge said that this was Echo's second litter and as they were born she just kept counting them, explaining this small breed of dog normally only has three or four puppies, but seven she said, "Is unheard of."

As a chihuahua breeder for 20 years, Beverly said she has seen a litter of five, but this was astounding.

The family's kennel is just south of Ash Flat on a hillside that was devastated by the 2008 tornados. Beverly moved to the area just over a month ago and says her daughter had the kennel built prior to her relocation, as she has lived in the area for around nine years. Echo, the mother of the monstrous litter appeared to be very protective and attentive to the multi-colored litter.

Those who were fortunate enough to have watched Beverly Hill's chihuahua can understand the vast difference in color of this breed of dogs from white, brown, black to a rare "blue," one of which Breckenridge owns.

Breckenridge sells the animals both from her kennel locally and at pet stores.

One thing is for certain, Echo has set roots for a hillside of chihuahuas.

I don't know alot about Bev, but what I do know is that she is not a very honest or responsible breeder. I bought 2 Chihuahua pups from her in the last year and she specifically knew that I was buying them for breeding purposes. The male dog I bought has only one testicle. She told me that this dog came from a litter of 7. I was at the pet store where they had 6 puppies and she had the 7th one at home. The second puppy I bought, I called her and asked her to make sure that they weren't related. Well, when I got to looking at the pedigrees I find that their parents are brothers and sisters. She quoted me one price and then charged me another because of "special coloring"? She moved out of Montana in a hurry and is currently a resident of your state. I have tried to contact her by phone but she refuses to call me back. I am angry. She is a puppy mill, and there is no place for these people in our society. If I ever find a web page of hers, and I am looking daily, I will develop a web page of my own to tell everyone about how she does business. I would never buy another dog from her. Please post this so everyone can read it. The large litters she has are not uncommon for her.
