The Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce met in regular session Aug. 13 at Wood's Riverbend Restaurant and discussed various upcoming events, namely, Solemn Ole Judge Day scheduled for Sept. 4.
"Reflections in the Spring" play will begin about 8 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Mammoth Spring Park Pavillion. The costumes for the play are ready. The play committee informed the Chamber that the music for the play is going well and seems to fit right in with the play's theme.
The Solemn Ole Judge Day Committee said they are planning on renting five large blow-up play pens for the kids that come out to the event. It will cost $1,000 to rent them. The chamber agreed to give the committee the funds to rent them.
An Antique and Classic Car Show is scheduled for Sept. 5. Chamber Ambassador Ron Cornelius said the chamber would have to pay $150 for an announcer at the event.
A representative with the George D. Hay Music Foundation requested $300 to help the foundation with advertizing for the George D. Hay Music Foudation Hall of Fame induction ceremony set for Sept. 20. The chamber agreed to give the foundation $200.
Chamber President Glynda Pryor said she had received quotes on how much an eight and a half by 11-inch refrigerator magnet listing local businesses would cost. For 500 of the magnets it would cost $476.25 and for 1,000 it would be $637.50. Many chamber members said they didn't like the idea of such a large magnet on their refrigerators and thought it might be better to go with a 24 page booklet advertizing businesses in Mammoth Spring and Thayer. Cornelius said he would bring the issue up in Thayer's next chamber of commerce meeting on Sept. 2.
The next Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce meeting is scheduled for Sept. 10 at the Mammoth Spring State Park Pavillion at noon. Those who plan on attending should bring their own lunch from Sonic.
