Tommy Hitt, 69, of Clarkridge, was driving a 2002 Ford F-250 Aug. 20. At 1:14 p.m. a call went out on a accident on State Highway 201. Hitt was south bound on Highway 201. While negotiating a curve Hitt crossed the center line and hit Peggy Parker, 43, of Elizabeth, driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, head on. Parker's vehicle came to rest on the east shoulder of the highway while Hitt's vehicle exited the east side of the highway and went down a steep embankment striking numerous trees before coming to a rest about 150 feet from the highway. Hitt, Parker and two passengers, Rhonda Gandy, 41, of Jonesboro, and Rachel Williams, 23, of Jonesboro, traveling with Parker were all injured and sent to Baxter Regional Medical Center. Hitt was charged with careless driving. The investigating trooper was David Small.
