Drug money goes to county

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

16th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney and Drug Task Force Director Don McSpadden recently distributed monies seized from drug dealers or from the most recent Drug Task Force seizure sale. Nine law enforcement agencies in the five county district received monies. Other agencies in the district will receive equipment for safety and other law enforcement purposes from the Prosecuting Attorney's portion of the sale and seizures.

McSpadden estimates that from one half to three quarters of a million dollars in sales and seized properties and forfeited money has been divided among law enforcement agencies in the last 10 years. These monies may be used for any law enforcement purposes by the receiving agency and their funding governmental agency can not supplant those funds for regularly appropriated funds.
