Street closing brings special meeting

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Members of Hardy City Council met at a special meeting 25 to discuss closing down the street behind Dr. Thompson Park in Hardy for the period of one year.

Hardy Mayor Nina Thornton said the reason for shutting down the street was to accommodate the new stage that has been purchased by the Advertising and Promotions Committee. She said the building, purchased from Bald Eagle Barns will give the public a place to watch various artists, musicians and other talent.

Thornton said that by closing the street for a period of one year, the city will be given enough time to determine if the amphitheater is going to be successful. If, at the end of the year, it is successful, the city will permanently close

"If, at the end of the year, it is successful, the city will permanently close"

I should hope that's a typo or not the full story!

As for the building, what is wrong with the area in Loberg park that we already have use of? It's a beautiful area and looks so much nicer than the shed I saw at the end of the street today.
