A semi-truck hit the light pole on the southeast corner of the main intersection in Salem at about 1:15 p.m., on Sept. 3. Salem Police Chief Al Roork (far right) investigates the fallen pole before proceeding to work the accident. The passenger of the semi-truck (left) took photos of the accident for insurance purposes. The passenger said that they "tapped" the light and it fell over. The semi-truck from a shipping company in Knoxville, Tenn., was hauling hardwood flooring.
