After struggling at home against Hoxie in week one, the Highland Junior Rebels made it clear they would not struggle against Harrisburg. Highland fought off the Hornets and the mosquitoes for a 26-0 road victory Sept. 10.

Freshman running back Sterling Stowers fumbled on the Junior Rebs first possession, but made up for it by hauling in an arching pass from Quinton Maag by stealing it away from the defender and retaining his footing so that he could run in for a 46-yard touchdown. Along with the Stowers' two-point conversion, Highland held an 8-0 lead.

Coach Spencer Hill went to Stowers early and often as the running back led the team with 16 carries for 83 yards, including a seven-yard rush for his second touchdown and a 14-0 advantage with four minutes left before the half.

Xavier Wiend completed a 10-play, 72-yard drive with a two-yard blast up the middle for the score. This TD followed a Maag to Brennon Severn 35-yard pass completion to the 2.

Eighth-grader Jace Powell rushed in for a 10-yard touchdown with 54 seconds left in the game. Shawn Young, also an eighth-grader, found the corner on a sweep for a 32-yard gain to setup the score.

Maag was four-of-eight for 121 yards. Severn had two receptions for 70 yards.

The Junior Rebels, 1-1, will travel to Newport on Sept. 17.
