The Thayer City Council met in regular session Sept. 8 and discussed various issues including the bell tower at city hall.
The council discussed the possibility of James Martin doing some masonry work on the bell tower of the city hall building. The cost of doing some masonry repairs on part of the bell tower is around $400 to $500. However, if the whole bell tower has to have masonry repairs it could cost about $3,500 to $4,500. The council agreed that Martin would do repairs while park department workers would do the corner and tuck pointing masonry.
The council also agreed to update the employee handbook.
The council approved the Municipal Court Report of August collecting $4,930.15.
The council also approved putting up for bid a 1966 Ford tanker truck and a GMC state truck and spreader bed.
In other business, the council approved the costs of department supplies for the month.
The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at city hall. The public is welcome to attend.
