To commemorate its 25th Anniversary, Grand Gulf State Park near Thayer held a celebration with an open house Sept. 19 to seek public input. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the event provided a way to mark the park's anniversary and give the public an opportunity to comment on the park and its operations.
The open house was held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the public was invited to share any ideas or comments they may have about the park. Park staff were available to discuss past accomplishments and outline any future plans. Information was provided on a new loop trail that is currently in the planning stages. The new trail will take the existing 0.5 mile one-way hiking trail into a loop trail slightly more than a mile in length.
Grand Gulf State Park is located six miles west of Thayer off Highway W.
