Lady Rebs fifth at state

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Moving up a couple classifications didn't keep Heber Springs' Katie Webb from earning state medalist honors for the third straight year.

Webb's 74 helped lead the Lady Panthers to the Class 4A State Golf Tournament Sept. 30 at Eagle Mountain in Batesville.

After playing at Shirley the past two years, and winning Class 2A medalist honors in the past two state tourneys, Webb transferred to Heber Springs this year.

The Lady Panthers shot a team score of 257.

The Highland Lady Rebels finished in a tie for fifth place with Ozark. Both schools recorded identical 321s.

Bobi Jo Cooper paced Highland with a score of 88, while Kaitlyn Duncan shot a 90. Both Cooper and Duncan earned All-State honors for their finish.

Courtney Gilbreath carded a 143 for Highland.

Waldron finished as team runners-up to Heber Springs with a 289. De Queen (309) was third and Clarksville (316) fourth.
