Community Foundation awards grants

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Alton R-IV Public Schools Foundation received a 2009-2010 Agency Partner Building Grant totaling $1,626 from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks through the Philanthropy Initiative Fund, recently.

Wylma Heiskell wrote the grant, which will be used for the Planned Giving Campaign starting this fall. The campaign will include mailing brochures, newsletters and other information to past donors, school patrons and alumni so the foundation can build their resources.

"Alton School Foundation appreciates the opportunity to partner with CFO as we continue to serve the needs of the Alton Schools," a spokesperson said.

The foundation was formed in October 2007 and its goal is to "promote the educational excellence in the Alton School System by generating financial resources from private funds to improve facilities, equipment and programs for the benefit of the students, faculty and organizations," according to the foundation's Web site at http://alton.k12.mo.us/foundation/index.....

The Web site also has a list of what they have done for the school in the past and information on how to donate to the foundation to support the school.
