Salem Mighty Mites travel to Mountain View

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

A beautiful Sept. 25 morning found the Salem Greyhound Mighty Mites hooking up with the Mountain View Yellowjackets.

The third-graders kicked things off and Salem struck first to take an early lead. But after that, the score went back-and-forth and the contest ended in a 22-all tie.

The next game saw the fourth-grade squads battling it out.

The two teams went up and down the field but the defenses refused to give in and the game ended in a scoreless deadlock.

The fifth-graders were next.

Mountain View took an early lead but the Hounds scrapped back and was able to narrow the gap.

However, Salem's comeback fell short and the Yellowjackets won 28-14.

The final game of the day was the sixth-grade contest.

As always, it was full of excitement and hard hitting.

The game featured plenty of offense with both teams seeming to score at will.

In the end, Mountain View was able to score more points and knocked off the Greyhounds 32-28.

The Salem Mighty Mite Association appreciates its players and their parents for making the trip to Mountain View.

The association thanks the following sponsors: Miller's Pharmacy, Sabco Insurance, Cel-Star Inc., Everett Management and William's Garage.
