A Thayer man was arrested for three charges of child molestation Oct. 23.
James N. Brown, 61, of Thayer, was arrested for three counts of first-degree child molestation, a Class B felony, conducted between Dec. 1, 2008, and Sept. 22, 2009, according to Oregon County Prosecuting Attorney Fred O'Neill's office.
Brown is charged with molesting a 10-year-old girl on three separate occasions.
Sgt. Terry Bounds, with the Thayer Police Department, took the report after being notified by the girl's parents. Bounds contacted the Child Advocate Center in Springfield to make an appointment for the girl to be interviewed and have a safe exam done.
After the interview, Bounds reported in his probable cause statement that he talked with interviewer Rachel Happel who told him about the sexual advances made towards her. According to the report, Brown offered the girl money to perform sexual acts..
Brown is being held on a $100,000 bond.
