Mustangs edge Cougars

The Midland Mustangs hit 11 of 12 free throws down the stretch in the fourth period to hold back the Izard County Cougars 56-47 Oct. 29 in Pleasant Plains.

Ryan Walker tallied 16 points for Izard County, with Preston Harmon adding 14.

In girls' action, Rachel Harmon exploded for 29 points, but it was the Lady Mustangs who were 62-47 winners over the Lady Cougars.

Trenton Hatman logged 18 points to lead the junior Cougars past Midland by the count of 40-26 to start the evening.

The Lady Cougars improved to 2-1 on the season with a 58-43 victory over Flippin on homecoming night Oct. 30.

The Lady Cougars led 19-17 at the half and 38-34 after three.

Izard County put the game on ice by outscoring the Lady Bobcats 20-9 in the fourth period.

Amber Hall paced the Lady Cougs with 19, while Harmon added 17. Kaydie Campbell finished with eight points for Izard County.

The Cougars fell to Flippin 51-36 Oct. 30.

Walker tossed in 11 points for Izard County, with Josh Ball adding eight, Jordan Everett five, Caleb Cowan four and Kyle King three.
