The traveling trophy will remain at the department until another department wins the title, something Windsor jokingly said might be another 20 years away.
Ash Flat volunteer fireman Thomas "Magnum" Windsor recently brought home the coveted traveling golden boots trophy from the White County Firefighter Challenge held Oct. 3 at Judsonia.

Magnum, as he was nicknamed by his fellow firemen because of his very muscular stature said he was a newcomer to the fire department and decided to do the challenge after being asked by Jarrod Allen, a fellow firefighter.

Windsor who is employed by Wallace Tower said he saw a tower climbing event and decided to enter. He said after he got there, they didn't even have that event, but he fared well in the others.

By the end of the day, he had won the golden boots and shamelessly took them home to Ash Flat and out of the hands of the White County Fire Department.

The trophy, which travels to the department who wins the challenge each year, is proudly displayed at the Ash Flat Fire Department.

Ash Flat Chief Stacey Horton said he is so proud of Windsor and said he is a remarkable guy.

Laughing, Windsor, who is also in the LPN program at Ozarka, said, "Ash Flat will be number one for the next 20 years."
