Ty Rowland presented a check from money raised at his birthday party to Misty Holden, chairman of Spring River Circle of Friends Nov. 5.

Ty is the 8-year-old son of Jeremy and Pamela Rowland of Cherokee Village.

Pamela said they normally go all out for their son's birthday but this year Ty, who had been a patient in Children's Hospital, decided to use his birthday as a way to raise money for the hospital.

On the invitations, the family requested no gifts, only a donation to ACH. The party was held Oct. 17 at the North Golf Course Recreation Center.

Ty's family set up the center as a town in his honor. Ty's Town, as they called it, was a complete town in which Ty was the mayor.

He raised $1,035 for Arkansas Children's Hospital through all of his friends and family who shared in his party.

The family decided to give the money to the local chapter of Circle of Friends, an organization that raises money for ACH. Ty presented the check to Misty Casey No. 5 for the chapter to take to Little Rock for presentation.

Casey said she is so proud of Ty for his selfless act. His mom said Ty has been raised donating things such as his toys on a regular basis. His toys are usually donated to local charities such as Toy's For Tots and Mission of Hope.

Pamela said there are so many needy children in the area this is just a small way the family can give back to the community.

The Rowland family would like to thank everyone who donated to the hospital at Ty's party.
