Bears knock off Class 5A Nettleton in Highland

LOOKING SHARP: The Mammoth Spring Bears show off their new travel gear for the 2009-10 season. According to Mammoth Spring Head Coach Jeremy Cude, the travel gear was made possible through the support of local businesses. "We thank Walmart of Thayer, R&R Industries, Simmons First Bank, Bank of Thayer, Hogwild Pizza, Cooper Auction, Mammoth Spring Booster Club, Mrs. Donnell Russell and Mrs. Kathy Bowers for their support of our program and help with purchasing our travel gear," said Cude. "And we also thank Palace Drug for their annual support in purchasing Polos for the senior boys' team."
The Mammoth Spring Bears outscored Nettleton 19-14 down the stretch in the fourth period to knock off the Class 5A Raiders 42-38 at the Highland Classic Nov. 9.

Mammoth Spring trailed Nettleton 15-14 at the half and 24-23 after three periods of play.

Caleb Brown racked up a game-high 12 points for the Bears, with Houston Cooper adding eight points, six boards and five assists. Wes Coffey chipped in with eight points.

The junior Bears fell to Hillcrest 48-37 at Mammoth Spring Nov. 12.

Hillcrest outscored the junior Bears 15-9 down the stretch in the fourth period to post the win.

Matt Turnbough paced Mammoth Spring with 24 points.

Caleb Brown scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Mammoth Spring to a 56-36 win over Sloan-Hendrix Nov. 13.

Chris Young added 10 points, while Houston Cooper logged seven assists and six rebounds for the Bears (6-1), who led 28-11 at halftime.

The junior Bears fell to Sloan-Hendrix 40-32.

Turnbough scored 20 points to lead Mammoth Spring.
