The Ash Flat City Council met in their regular monthly session Nov. 16 at Ash Flat City Hall. Among the topics of discussion were a possible water rate increase and advertising in the Ozark Gateway magazine.
In unfinished business, Cathy Drew, executive director with the Ozark Gateway Tourist Council spoke to members of the council regarding placing advertisement in their magazine. The free full color magazine, which prints 100,000 copies and also offers free Portable Document Format downloads via their Web site, will be used to promote the area. Council voted to advertise in the magazine.
In new business, a water rate ordinance was read the first time. The proposed ordinance amends a previous ordinance. The prices included within the ordinance include a charge of $10 for the first 2,000 gallons on a residential account and $20 for the first 2,000 gallons on a commercial account. Prices after the first 2,000 gallons of water used would be $2.25 for residential and $3.25 for commercial for each additional 1,000 gallons of water usage.
The council also amended the 2008 budget.
In other new business, Jamie Thompkins was re-appointed to the Sharp County Airport Authority.
The city budget for 2010 was not voted on, but a special meeting will be held at a later date to allow members of the council time to consider the budget before voting on it.
The next regular meeting of the Ash Flat City Council will be Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Ash Flat City Hall.
