It's time for the decorations to go up, the lists to be made, the shopping to do, presents to wrap, the house to be cleaned -- yes, it's the holidays.
During this hectic time of year, don't forget to stop and enjoy a holiday tradition that hundreds enjoy each year -- the Salem Christmas Parade. This year it is set for Dec. 7, beginning promptly at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to the parade, hot chocolate and coffee will be served by FNBC, cookies will be served by The Bank of Salem and Relay for Life teams will be selling food on the Court Square where all the activities take place.
Businesses are also being encouraged to light up the town by decorating their store front for a chance to win $25. It must be completed by noon, Dec. 7.
Clubs, churches, businesses and organizations are invited to enter a float in the parade. The first place float will receive $125, second place $100, third place $75 and honorable mention $25.
Line-up for the parade will be at the American Polishing parking lot on Highway 395 north at 6 p.m.
Everyone is invited to gather around the court square to watch the parade and possibly catch a glance of the hardy old man himself -- Santa Claus.
