The Izard County Sheriff's Department has received information that two Hispanics, one male and one female, are in this part of the state and are suspected of passing fake payroll checks in the name of Tyson Foods. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said they are reported to be driving a red Nissan van with either California or Alabama tags. Merchants should be alert in taking checks from persons unknown to the business. Anyone having information as to the whereabouts of this vehicle is asked to contact the Izard County Sheriff's Department.
In an unrelated activity, Joseph L. Lyons, 25, of Cave City was arrested Dec. 5 on charges to include driving while intoxicated, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing a controlled substance, driving left of center, and driving without a license. Lyons posted bond the following day in the amount of $3,875 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Conway Lavon Perry, 59, of Melbourne was arrested Dec. 3 on charges on disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. Perry later posted bond in the amount of $810 and was released.
William Brent Hamrick, 50, of Ash Flat was arrested Sunday night on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and prohibited driving, not wearing a seat belt. Hamrick remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,240 bond.
A Sunday arrest resulted in multiple charges against a Cherokee Village woman. Sonya Elsie Wiggins, 39, was charged with driving on a suspended license, driving left of center, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and possession of a controlled substance. Wiggins is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility on a $3,050 bond.
David M. Dickson, 29, of Steinhatchee, Fla., was arrested in that state and transported to the Izard County Detention Facility as the result of a felony failure to appear warrant. Bond was set at $10,000 cash.
Michael William Dowell, 32, was arrested Dec. 4 on a failure to appear warrant. Dowell posted bond the following day and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Three individuals were transported from the Izard County Detention Facility to the Arkansas a Department of Correction. Ricky Lake, 30, of Oxford and Randy Leroy Schulz, 43, of Batesville were transported December 9. George Wayne Yeager, Jr., 33, of Leland, Ill., was transported Dec. 11.
