Margaret Brabon, 35, of Horseshoe Bend, was arrested on numerous charges Wednesday, Dec. 16. On Dec. 16, Chief Fred Mitchell Jr. and Lt. Carl Boles accompanied Arkansas State Police Investigator Jannette Cooper to the Brabon residence on Hawk Drive. Cooper was investigating a complaint about one of Brabon's minor children. Upon arrival approximately 26 dogs were found at the residence, some of which appeared to be neglected. HBPD officers discovered what they believed to be stolen property in plain view. Lt. Carl Boles checked garbage cans located on the roadside and discovered serveral items used to manufacture methamphetamine and a dead puppy. The 16th District Drug Task Force was called and they obtained a search warrant for the residence. A search of the residence revealed components to manufacture methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Brabon has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, use or possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, use of possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia, cruelty to animals, endangering the welfare of a minor and numerous city ordinance violations. The HBPD would like to thank Jannette Cooper, the 16th Judicial Task Force, Izard County Chief Investigator Charles Melton, Izard County Deputy Gabe Sanders and Horseshoe Bend Animal Control Officer Ross Solimine.

On Friday, Dec. 18, Ricky Jacobs, of Mountain Home, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Jacobs was charged after a traffic stop in which suspected marijuana was discovered. Lt. Carl Boles was the arresting officer.
