Cave City stopped by Bay

The Cave City Cavemen were knocked out of the annual NEA Tournament with a 75-40 loss to the Bay Yellowjackets Dec. 26 at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.

The third-seeded Yellowjackets jumped out to a 12-0 lead early and the 11th-seeded Cavemen could just not catch up with Bay.

Seth Foreman paced Cave City with 10 points.

Bay's Gunner Freeman fired in a game-high 25 points.

The Cavemen advanced to a meeting with Bay after dropping sixth-seeded Black Rock 59-55 on Dec. 23.

Foreman led the way with 22 points. Thamail Morgan added 15 and Dalton Bell 10 for Cave City.

The Izard County Cougars fell to the Cavemen 69-48 in the opening round of the tourney Dec. 22.

The Cavemen led 19-8 after the first period and 31-19 at the half.

Cave City built its advantage to 54-36 heading into the final period of play.

Trenton Hatman paced the 22nd-seeded Cougars with 16 points, while Caleb Cowan added 12.

Foreman led Cave City with 16 points, while Zac Smith added 13, Bell 11 and Morgan 10.
