Cavewomen top Riverside, Maynard

The top-seeded Cave City Cavewomen had little trouble with Riverside in the quarterfinals of the girls' 1A-2A-3A bracket at the NEA Tournament at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro Dec. 26.

Finishing things off with a 10-2 run in the third, Cave City knocked off the Lady Rebels 53-36.

Cave City opened the contest with a 12-1 run and closed the first half with a 10-2 spurt to grab command with a 27-12 lead at the break.

The Cavewomen took a 43-16 advantage into the final eight minutes of play.

Cheyenne Childers led the way with 18 points for Cave City.

The Cavewomen opened tourney play by hammering 16th-seeded Maynard 59-27 Dec. 23.

Brooklyn Brinkley tallied 14 points for Cave City.

Haley Bell had 11 points for the Cavewomen.

Jessica Hall and Childers racked up eight points each.
