Remembering Dr. Audrey Thompson

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Audrey James Thompson, 89, of Williford, Ark., died Dec. 20, 2009, at the Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.

Thompson was a lover of history and was instrumental in getting several Hardy homes listed on the National Historic Registry.

He spent countless hours writing history columns for the Villager Journal and had a great love for his community.

Many who knew him, could see the sparkle in his eye as his mind went back through time to tell of events, people and landmarks in Sharp County.

Dr. Thompson Park on Main Street in Hardy was named in his honor and his memory will remain in the minds of many for the great impact he had not only on the city of Hardy, but also the entire community which he served.

A tribute to Thompson's life will be published at a later date in Avenues magazine.
