Two charged with tampering

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Two people are charged with tampering with a gas pump at Bobcat Station in Thayer in order to steal gasoline during the month of November.

Bobby L. Coursey, 29, of Koshkonong, and Justin G. Turner, 28, of West Plains, are charged with committing the class D felony of tampering with computer data and the class C felony of stealing.

According to Thayer Police Officer Josh McDaniel's probably cause statement, the owner of the Bobcat Station had video surveillance of the two men using an access key on the number pads of pumps three and four. Billy Jo Young, a pump technician, told McDaniel that this was how gas was stolen without there being a record of it.

The two were questioned at the Bobcat Station a few days after McDaniel was made aware of what was happening. The two them were held by the Thayer Police Department. Coursey's bond is set at $10,000. Turner's was originally set at the same amount but was reduced to $2,000.
