Salem's new Dollar General opened its doors Jan. 13 to customers who were eagerly awaiting the change from the smaller store on Turner Lane to the bigger store on Main Street.

Emily Weiss, media relations manager for Dollar General's Corporate office in Goodlettsville, Tenn., said, "The new store is located at 220 South Main Street and has 9,014 total square feet. The store employs approximately six to 10 people. The store features a layout that makes shopping simpler for customers. Some of its highlights include: convenient cash register locations, seasonal products featured in the center of the store, coolers at the front of the store and more visible department signage."

The one thing customers seem to notice most is that the store is much bigger and the aisles are wider for customers to easily move around in.

One store employee said since the new store has opened they have seen more traffic than at the previous location and that the store has stayed busy.
