Lady Comets clip Couch

Using a big 9-0 burst early in the first period, the Alton Lady Comets grabbed a lead they would enjoy all evening long, resulting in a 46-42 victory over the Couch Lady Indians in the third-place game of the Big Spring Conference Tournament Feb. 3 at Van Buren High School.

Alex Hower paced Alton with a game-high 28 points.

Cassie Roberts tossed in 13 points to lead the Lady Indians.

The Comets held a seven-point lead late in their matchup with Winona, but the Wildcats rallied late to emerge with a 50-46 win over Alton in the fifth-place game of the boys' varsity division.

Kalon Honeycutt scored 16 points to lead the Comets.

The Summersville Lady Wildcats knocked off the Koshkonong Lady Blue Jays 60-17 for fifth place in the girls' division.
