The Third Annual Cooking With Coals Dutch Oven Cook Off sponsored by the Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce and Mammoth Spring State Park will be March 6, at the pavilion in the park. Cooking begins at 10 a.m., and judging begins at 2 p.m.
Teams will consist of two to three persons who will compete in a three pot cook off. The pots will consist of a main dish, a bread and a dessert. Trophies, ribbons and prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category plus a category of best showmanship and interaction with visitors and observers. A team of State Parks employees will be preparing beans, cornbread and dessert in Dutch Oven Pots which will be for sale to the public. Cornbread and beans will be $3, cobbler will be $2, both will cost $5. Also for sale will be samples of all the dishes cooked at the cook off. People can purchase eight sample cups for $2.
