Those who are thinking about running for county or city offices in November will have to decide soon.
The filing period runs from noon on Monday, March 1 until noon the following Monday, March 8.
Those wishing to file as a Democrat should go to the Fulton County Clerk's office and they will assist candidates with the filing process.
Those wishing to file as a Republican candidate should contact Gary Phillips at 870-895-5165. He will assist with the necessary paperwork needed by the clerk's office.
Independent candidates will not run in the May 18 primary, but they still must file during the filing period in March.
Independents must also submit a petitition by noon on May 1. The petition must be filed with the county clerk and be signed by not less than three percent of the qualified electors in the county or township, based on the total number of votes cast for governor in that county or township in the last gubernatorial election.
The total number of qualified electors can be obtained from the county clerk.
All county offices have two year terms, so all those officials will be up for re-election.
The primary election is May 18 and the general election set for Nov. 2.
For more information about filing for any position, contact Fulton County Clerk Vicky Bishop at 870-895-3310.
