The Alton Lady Comets took advantage of a big second-period effort en route to a 68-29 win over the visiting Koshkonong Lady Blue Jays Jan. 19.
Koshkonong was down 14-7 after the first period, but a pair of buckets from Sam Collins (three points) and Desaray Collins (12 points) early in the second pulled the Lady Jays within five points.
But then Alton got rolling and all the Lady Comets got in on the action.
Alex Hower (20 points) tossed in five straight points, including a trey, coupled with hoops from Kristina Russback (14 points), Myranda Reynolds (11 points), Lacey Hodge (six points) and Cassie Benson (nine points).
When Alton's 19-0 run finally drew to a close, the Lady Comets stood in front 35-11.
Sam Collins broke up the run with a charity toss and Jessica Tignor (three points) hit a bucket late in the second, but Alton took a 41-14 cushion to intermission.
The Lady Comets led 61-26 after three.
Cierra Cawvey finished with four points for Alton, with Jessica Alexander and Jessica Morrison adding two points apiece.
Megan Talbert logged eight points for Koshkonong, while Chelsea Carey had two and Taylor York one for the Lady Blue Jays.
