Two separate accidents in the Highland area caused damages to two businesses.
Feb. 6 the Highland Police Department responded to a call at B & B Furniture. Driver Tommy W. Williams, 38, of Alton, Mo., jumped the curb in his 2000 Dodge pickup and traveled through a ditch, jumped a driveway, traveled through a parking lot and hit the side of the tree with the front passenger fender and then hit the side of the building. The damage to the vehicle was extensive.
In a separate incident on Feb. 18, Highland Police Chief Jeremy Stevens responded to a call at the Highland Dollar General. A 2004 BMW driven by Marvin H. Noon of Horseshoe Bend, hit the side of the store. The report states that Noon jumped the parking stop and collided with the building and then, after backing up, again accelerated and hit the building a second time.
The store received an undetermined amount of structural damage.
