Bay ends Lady Bears' hoops season

The Mammoth Spring Lady Bears' season came to a close with a loss in the first round of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament Feb. 24 at Harold Ray Jeffery Gymnasium in Calico Rock.

The top-seeded Bay Lady Yellowjackets took advantage of a big 20-8 run to break up a close game early and knock off Mammoth Spring 60-41.

The game was locked at 6-all after one, but after Bay went on its big surge, the Lady Yellowjackets stood in front 26-14 at the half and then extended that cushion to 42-26 after three periods of play. Bianca Paige paced the Lady Bears (9-14) with 17 points.
